Is Pi a cryptocurrency?

I've been hearing a lot about the so-called "Pi" network lately. It seems to be gaining quite a bit of attention in the cryptocurrency community. But my question is, is Pi truly a cryptocurrency? I understand it's based on a mobile mining model, but does that alone qualify it as a legitimate digital asset? I'm curious about its underlying technology, market adoption, and if there's any potential for long-term growth. Clarifying this would help me determine if Pi is worth investing in or simply another fad in the crowded crypto space. Is Pi a cryptocurrency?
