Why MetaMask is so slow?

I've been using MetaMask for a while now, and I've noticed that it can be quite slow at times. Can you explain why this might be the case? Is it an issue with the platform itself, or is it something to do with the network congestion on the blockchain? I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I can do to speed up the process or if I should be looking for an alternative wallet. Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
