Does autism get better with age?

I'm curious to know, does autism improve or change in any way as an individual grows older? Is there evidence to suggest that symptoms may lessen or that individuals with autism may learn to cope with their challenges more effectively as they mature? Are there any particular strategies or interventions that have been shown to be effective in helping individuals with autism as they age?
