I'm curious to know, how exactly does one utilize a MUX, or multiplexer, as an inverter in an electronic circuit? Could you elaborate on the process, perhaps by explaining the configuration of the MUX inputs and outputs that would allow it to function in this manner? Additionally, are there any specific advantages or disadvantages to using a MUX as an inverter compared to traditional inverter circuits? How do you use a MUX as an inverter?

In this setup, the "zeroth" select line of the MUX is intentionally tied to a "Logic 1" signal. This configuration ensures that one of the MUX's input paths is permanently activated, allowing for conditional switching based on the state of the other select line.

Conversely, the "First" select line is tied to a "Logic 0" signal. This pairing, along with the "Logic 1" on the "zeroth" line, sets up the MUX to respond to changes in the input select line in a specific manner, facilitating the inversion process.

When the input select line, which serves as the control signal for the inversion, transitions to "1," the MUX's internal logic selects the path associated with the "Logic 0" tied to the "First" select line. This selection, in turn, causes the output of the MUX to invert the input signal.

Designing an inverter utilizing a 2:1 multiplexer (MUX) necessitates a strategic approach to its inputs. The MUX's select line serves as the crucial interface for implementing the inversion logic. This arrangement transforms the multiplexer into a versatile component for logical inversion.
