While some may wonder why "T" is not used to represent thousand, it is important to note that "T" already has a designated meaning in the metric system. Specifically, "T" stands for "Tera," which represents a trillion (1,000,000,000,000) in the International System of Units (SI).

In contrast, "K" maintains its specificity as a representation of one thousand, avoiding confusion with other metric prefixes. This consistency makes "K" a reliable and recognizable shorthand for this particular numerical value.

The letter "K" stands for "Kilo," which is a prefix derived from the Greek language. In Greek, "Khilioi" means a thousand, and thus, "K" has been adopted to represent the same numerical value in modern terminology.
