I returned an item but was charged a restocking fee. I don't understand why this fee was applied as I thought returns were free. Could you please explain the reason for this charge? Why am I being charged a restocking fee?

A restocking fee is a charge that covers the costs associated with processing the return, such as re-inspecting the product, repackaging it, and restocking it in inventory.
