I'm curious about the value of gold coins. Why is it that they are only worth $50 and not more? I would expect them to be priced higher given that gold is a precious metal. Why are gold coins worth $50 & not more?

The value of one ounce $800 gold coins is currently $51. 2. This is despite the fact that they contain a significant amount of gold.
