Does ENS use DNS?

Filippo Filippo Wed May 29 2024 | 6 answers 1735
I've been reading a lot about ENS recently, and it seems like it's a pretty innovative way to handle domain names in the blockchain space. But one thing that's been bugging me is the relationship between ENS and DNS. I understand that they're both used for domain name resolution, but I'm not sure how they differ or if ENS actually utilizes DNS in any way. So, does ENS use DNS? Or is it a completely separate system? I'm really curious to know how these two technologies interact, if they do at all. Does ENS use DNS?

The ENS is akin to DNS in its core functionality. DNS allows websites to convert their complex IP addresses into memorable and human-readable domain names. This process greatly simplifies the process of accessing websites for users.

One of the key benefits of ENS is its decentralized nature. Unlike traditional DNS, which relies on centralized authorities for management, ENS is built on the Ethereum blockchain, ensuring security and transparency.
