One of the primary security features of encryption is the BitLocker recovery mode. This mode is designed to kick in whenever the state of the BIOS/UEFI settings is altered unexpectedly. This can happen for various reasons, including a misconfigured boot device or a change in network requirements.

For instance, if an organization's network requires a specific boot device to be used, any attempt to start the machine with a different device can trigger the BitLocker recovery mode. This is a safeguard put in place to prevent unauthorized access to the machine and the data stored within.

To avoid such issues, it is crucial to ensure that the BIOS/UEFI settings are correctly configured based on the network requirements of the organization. This includes setting up the correct boot device and ensuring that all security measures are in place to prevent unauthorized changes.

Encryption of a machine is a security measure that ensures the protection of sensitive data. During this process, the machine stores the state of its BIOS/UEFI settings, which are critical for its operation. These settings govern how the machine boots and functions, and any tampering with them can have severe consequences.
