Why is my computer asking for a BitLocker key?

BitLocker, a robust security feature in Windows, safeguards your data by encrypting the drive and requiring a recovery key during certain scenarios. One such instance arises when a drive is connected to your PC and recognized within the boot sequence.

However, if you find yourself being repeatedly asked for the recovery key without connecting any external devices, it could indicate a different issue. Specifically, the boot support for Preboot for Thunderbolt (TBT) and USB-C/TBT might be enabled by default on your system.

Thunderbolt and USB-C/TBT offer high-speed data transfer and connectivity, but they also pose a potential security risk if not properly managed.
