I'm trying to figure out whether I should use a stop order or a stop limit order for my trading. I want to understand the differences between them and which one would be more suitable for my needs. Should I use a stop or stop limit?

In contrast to other order types, a stop order doesn't require you to wait for a specific price to be hit; it acts as a safety net.

Another variant, the stop-limit order, allows you to set both a stop price and a limit price. This ensures that if the stop price is reached, your trade will only execute at or better than your limit price.

A stop order is a useful tool in trading, especially when your priority is exiting a position rather than focusing on the exact price.

While a stop-limit order provides more control over the execution price, it doesn't guarantee that your trade will be filled. market conditions could prevent the order from being executed entirely.
