When a diesel engine is in motion, its RPM varies with speed and gear. For instance, when a diesel engine is running at a speed of 110 km/h in the 6th gear, its RPM is around 2000 rpm.

When a car is at rest and the engine is running but not providing power to move the vehicle, it operates within an idle RPM range. This idle rotation speed usually falls between 600 rpm and 1000 rpm.

Diesel engines have a specific idle RPM. They typically stay idle at approximately 750 rpm. This is the RPM at which the engine rotates when the car is stationary but running.

On the other hand, petrol engines behave differently at high speeds. They are capable of rotating at significantly higher RPMs compared to diesel engines. At high speeds, petrol engines can rotate at 6000 rpm.
