I'm wondering what would happen if I accidentally send Bitcoin to an address that doesn't actually exist. Would the transaction fail? Would the funds be lost forever? What happens if you send Bitcoin to an address that does not exist?

When attempting to send BTC to an invalid address, the transaction will not proceed successfully.
