I've been hearing a lot about Bitcoin recently and I'm curious to know if it can be infinitely mined. I understand that it's a digital currency, but does it have a limit like other physical resources? Or can we continue to mine Bitcoin indefinitely?
Despite this cap, it is highly unlikely that the number of Bitcoins issued will ever actually reach 21 million.

This is due to the use of rounding operators within the Bitcoin codebase, which can result in fractional Bitcoin amounts that are not issued as whole coins.

As the Bitcoin supply approaches its upper limit, the issuance of new Bitcoins will gradually slow down until no additional coins are generated.
