I'm trying to figure out the pattern in this sequence: 1, 2, 4, 7, 11. It seems like each number is increasing by a different amount, but I can't quite put my finger on the exact rule. Can someone help me understand how each number is related to the one before it? What is the rule of 1, 2, 4, 7, 11?

For instance, the difference between 2 and 1 is 1, the difference between 4 and 2 is 2, but the second difference (4-2)-(2-1) is 1. Similarly, the second difference between 7 and 4 is also 1, and so on.

In this sequence, there is a constant second difference between any two consecutive terms. This characteristic sets it apart from other types of sequences.
