Toyota And Nissan Builds Virtual Spaces in Metaverse

According to Nikkei Asia, Nissan made a virtual reality version of its Nissan Crossing gallery in Tokyo using a platform of U.S. startup VRChat. The VR space features the new Ariya electric vehicle where exclusive visitors can join a virtual world tour.

Nissan will then use the virtual space as a showroom for the launch of its vehicles and other events. Through its Invisible-to-Visible augmented reality interface, Nissan creates “limitless possibilities that will make driving more convenient, comfortable and exciting”.

Meanwhile, Toyota builds virtual workspaces for its employees. Its goal is to help them interact in a more immersive way. The workspace shows employees’ avatars that they can use to join in company meetings and events.

Toyota’s human resources and technical development teams already use the virtual workspaces. The car company said they will expand it further into the metaverse.

According to an anonymous company representative, having virtual workspaces is another communication option Toyota wants to provide its staff.

“With more people working from home because of the coronavirus, we are providing young employees and others communication options within the company,” the company representative stated.
