USFK Regulation 190-1 outlines the specific requirements for driving privileges for individuals stationed in South Korea under the command of the United States Forces Korea (USFK). According to this regulation, newly arrived personnel are granted a grace period during their initial 30 days in the country.

An International Driver's Permit is a translation of a person's existing driver's license into multiple languages, making it easier for officials in foreign countries to understand. It is typically issued by a national automobile association and is valid for one year from the date of issue.

During this initial 30-day period, individuals are permitted to drive using their valid state-side driver's license. This provision is designed to facilitate the transition process for those newly assigned to the area and allows them to maintain their mobility while they adjust to their new surroundings.

However, after the initial 30 days have elapsed, individuals are required to obtain a valid form of driving authorization recognized by the USFK and the Republic of Korea. Failure to do so may result in legal consequences, including fines and the suspension of driving privileges.
