Can RFID cards be reused?

Reusing RFID tags involves a straightforward process of overwriting the existing data. This can be achieved by following similar steps as when initially programming the tag. It's a convenient method for updating tag information without the need for physical replacement.

However, there's a specific type of RFID tag that doesn't adhere to this reusability principle—the WORM (Write Once Read More) tags. These tags stand apart due to their unique property of allowing data to be written only once.

Once data is programmed into a WORM RFID tag, it becomes permanent and immutable. Attempts to rewrite or overwrite the information will be futile, as the tag's design prohibits such modifications.

This feature of WORM tags offers benefits in certain applications where data integrity and security are paramount. For instance, in supply chain management, they can ensure that product information cannot be tampered with once recorded.

Nevertheless, the inability to reuse WORM RFID tags can be a limitation in scenarios where frequent updates are necessary. In such cases, alternative tag types that support rewriting would be more suitable.
