QuarkChain Network is a permissionless blockchain architecture that aims to meet global commercial standards, which provides a secure, decentralized, and scalable blockchain solution to deliver 1,000,000+ on-chain TPS (transactions per second).

The puerpose is for QuarkChain to be able to support a wide range of dapps, particularly those requiring high transaction rates, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and large-scale games. QuarkChain also supports smart contracts to ensure compatibility with existing dapps.

QuarkChain’s native token, QKC, was launched during a May 2018 ICO and is needed to transact value in the QuarkChain system and reward miners.

Main Features of Quarkchain

1.Flexibility: QuarkChain is a public chain that can support multiple consensuses, multiple transaction models ( including virtual machines VMs), ledger, and token economics in one network. It can reportedly adapt to blockchain innovations by customizing consensus, transaction model (including VM), ledger, and token economics in each shard so that to satisfy different requirements of different industries/enterprises/DApps. The network supports two consensus algorithms, PoW and PoSW ( a combination of PoS+ PoW). More consensus algorithms (DPoS, PoS and etc) will be added into different shards in the future. It is EVM-compatible – every DApp deployed on Ethereum can be deployed in QuarkChain. The team plans to add more virtual machines (e.g. EOS VM) in different shards so that developers have more choices.

2.Scalability: QuarkChain aims to deliver 100,000+ on-chain TPS. Currently, 55000+ peak TPS has already been achieved in TPS competition held within the community.

3.Decentralization: QuarkChain has a two-layered structure and encourages individual miners with different levels of capability to mine directly without joining mining pools. People can choose to mine either in the root chain or in the shard.

4.Great Usability: QuarkChain supports Native token which enables each shard to have its own tokeneconomics. It also supports scalable cross-shard transactions. Only one account is required to access entire resources in all shards, and smart wallets simplify the management.

What Makes QuarkChain Unique?

A lack of scalability is perhaps the biggest obstacle standing between blockchain and mainstream adoption, and there’s a long list of crypto projects focused on solving this widespread problem.

QuarkChain’s solution to the problem is based on a 2-layer architecture and employs sharding. The first layer features elastic sharding blockchains (shards), which partition large databases into smaller and more manageable components and allow transactions to be processed independently. The more shards there are in the network, the more transactions can be processed concurrently.

The second layer is the root chain. The role of this layer is not to actually process transactions but to confirm blocks from the sharded chains. The end result is “a secure, decentralized and scalable blockchain solution to deliver 100,000+ on-chain transactions per second”, according to the project whitepaper.
